Our 2018 Dancing with the Heroes Results!

The Fort Wayne Ballroom Company once again presented "Dancing with the Heroes" on August 17th, 2018.  This was 2nd annual event being held to raise money to fund an entire flight of 85 veterans to go to Washington D.C. to see the memorials built in their honor.  Several months of dance lessons and fundraising all led up to a spectacular night.   $74,000 was raised by the efforts of these great men and women and we salute each and every one of them.

Semaj Crawford - Navy

Semaj was born in Meadville, PA 1959 and grew up in Fort Wayne, IN. While attending IU majoring in psychology and performing arts, Semaj decided to enlist in the Navy.  He did his basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Station and then went on to San Diego.

Dana Fanning - Air Force

Master Sergeant Fanning was born in Beaufort, South Carolina.  She grew up in a military family and lived all over the southeast coast.  She is a graduate of the Community College of the Air Force earning an Associates degree in Financial Management.

Bob Kuntz
Bob Kuntz - Army

Bob was inducted into the United States Army in April 1968 and served on active duty until March 1971 when he was honorably discharged.  He served in both the United States and overseas as well. He achieved the rank of E-5 and served in various capacities.

Curlis Meaux
Curlis Meaux - Marines

Curlis was born 1929 in Crowley, LA last of six children.  After graduating Parochial school at age 16, with his mother’s permission,  he enlisted in the Marines at age 17. His 3 brothers had just returned from WWII. After completing his basic training at Parris Island,  Curlis reported to Camp Lejeune.

Judi Perkins
Judi Perkins - Air Force

Judi L Perkins, CMSgt (Retired) is currently the Director of Operations for the National Guard Association of Indiana, Inc. at Stout Field in Indianapolis, IN.  She spent 28 ½ years in the military before retiring. She enlisted in the United States Air Force on February 14, 1984 after 5 months in the Delayed Enlistment program.

Larry Smith
Larry Smith - Army

Larry was born and raised in Huntington, IN 1935.  Five of his uncles had served in WWII. While in school his mother encouraged him to learn typing.  This skill would have a significant impact on his military service. He left high school to enlist in the Army at age 17.
